One of the only things that bothers me about cycling is the state of my hair afterwards. I always wear a helmet (one broken collarbone later taught me my lesson!) and it tends to end up in a frizzy-but-flat windblown mess a la Bridget Jones:

Anyhoo, tis a a neccessary evil, but I think many girls are put off wearing a helmet because of the ugly styrofoam blocks that are sold as ‘cycle helmets’:
